WW2, Finnish army Air Defense School 1943 Technical Class IV, graduation badge base plate.
Original WW2 era Finnish army badge baseplates.
Manufactured by the famous Velj. Sundqvist, stamped.
These are just the base plates for the badge, for reason unknown to us, some extra pieces were manufactured, and stored for several decades, until we go them.
Very nice items for arts and crafts, good place holder for your collection until the whole badge is found.
Made from solid copper, all are stained and all are little bit different color. Some scratches and other storage marks are possible.
Air Defense School 1943 Technical Class IV = Ilmatorjuntakoulu 1943 IV Tekninen Kurssi. The specialist classes were not large, as the men were needed in battle, this badge is very hard to find in its enameled ready state.
Swastika has nothing to do with germans, it is old sign of good luck, instated in 1918 for use of Finnish Air Force by Count von Rosen. Air Defense troops were part of Air force originally. As an interesting detail, the first plane that had the swastika on its side, was made by Thulinverken of sweden, Count von Rosen also was convicted to pay fines for unlicensed export of prohibited material.
